Dan’s Vision: Re-energizing Colorado’s economy via a more business friendly regulatory environment, and a strong educational system based on choice and accountability.

Dan has a diverse history that almost any Coloradan can relate with at some point in their lives. He was born in to a large, blended, blue collar family in the south side of Chicago. His father, a navy veteran of WWII and a dock worker for Navajo trucking, had roots in Northern Wisconsin and took the family of 6 boys back to his rural home town of Rib Lake, Wisconsin when Dan was just 6.

Maes differentiates himself from his rivals for the gubernatorial nomination by stressing his business background and executive experience; while not downplaying the value of political skills and knowledge gained by serving in the legislature, particularly at the state level, Maes says that “the governor’s position is an executive position demanding executive skills” - and adds that his background has developed those skills.
